Located in the picturesque setting of Croft Foot Cottage, The Wild Olive is a gem in Seascale's culinary landscape. This Italian restaurant has garnered rave reviews for its inviting atmosphere and impeccable service. Guests consistently praise the friendly and welcoming staff, making every visit an enjoyable experience. Dawn Reynolds highlighted that it became her favorite spot in the Lake District, noting the fantastic food and ambiance with delightful music.
The menu boasts a variety of dishes, with standout items like the "best king prawns" as noted by Rebecca, and pizzas that are expertly crafted in a traditional pizza oven, as mentioned by Lee O'Donoghue. Arrived and went straight to our table, everything went flawlessly. Waiting staff were cheery, polite and attentive. All food was cooked to perfection, the best king prawns I have ever been served! Specials were a nice little extra too! I'd highly recommend a dessert too and we can't wait to come back.

We were visiting Whitehaven and our hosts brought us here for an evening meal. As soon as we walked through the door the aroma told me it was going to be good. Our group mostly went for pizzas, which were unmistakably from a pizza oven, had great toppings and were a generous size. If you've gone enthusiastically into starters you will be really struggling to finish one of these. We also had the sea bass on linguine, a bit pricier than the pizzas but well worth it. The creamy leek and chorizo linguine packed enough flavour and size to be a meal in its own right. Sat atop it however was a really generous sea bass fillet with excellent crispy skin. Fortunately for us, we came with folks who knew the portion size! We may have looked tight with the bread sharer for two between four, but if you want some desert after those mains, then it's the best way to go. We opted to share two sticky toffee puds between four, it would have just been gluttonous to have one each. The cake was very light and the sauce the perfect thickness. Great finish The place itself was smart and the staff friendly, will definitely return

Have no faults of this restaurant. Visited during our trip to Lake District and was just brilliant from start to finish. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and made to feel like home. Food just topped it, 10/10 thank you all so much!! PS if the Bee Sting special is on the menu please order!!

Had a takeout pizza, it was delicious! Really flavoursome and fresh, quality ingredients used. Phone ahead to be allocated a spot though, even for takeout. Best pizza I’ve had for ages.

Found this little gem last year and have been back every time we stay on the West coast of the lakes! Absolutely delicious food every time. Booking is essential as they are always full! Dog friendly as well - means we don't have to stick to pub food!

Really lovely dining experience. We booked last minute and were lucky to get a table. It’s understandable why they are so busy. The food is homemade with love. My partner and I were obsessed with the garlic butter and dough balls. Attentive service and would recommend to anyone if they are in the area.

I had the most incredible dining experience with my family at THE WILD OLIVE! From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely the best I’ve ever had in my life—every dish was bursting with authentic flavours and cooked to perfection. The pasta and pizza were fresh, the sauces were rich and flavourful, and the desserts were simply divine! Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was also exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed for a perfect meal. It was a truly memorable evening, and my family and I couldn’t have been happier. If you're looking for an authentic Italian dining experience, this is the place to be. Highly recommend, and we can’t wait to come back!
